About PreWarParts.com
When trying to keep a vintage car on the road (or to get it there) the bottom line is always: where to find the parts. Of course you have the Vintage Car Clubs , the Marque Clubs and all the Dealers and other addresses you already knew. But you also know there is this little shed, this barn, this basement, this attick, this garage -maybe even in the very same street where you live - where this pile of parts is waiting to be discovered. The other way round you still have this unidentified engine in your garage. Or this gearbox for a 1906 Cadillac, or a headlight for a 1928 Hispano Suiza.
Now there are many place where you can find parts, but most times it is a big mess. A huge pile of rusty bits, and it's all up to you to find the bit you are looking for. That is fun and part of the hobby, but not always. Sometimes you just want to buy. Or just want to sell.

That's why we made PreWarParts.com, which offers a highly sophisticated system to locate and sell parts. Basically the system is based on the assumption that every component of a vintage car has three (3) ultimately important labels: 1. Category 2. Make of the part 3. Make of car it fits with.

For instance you still have this headlight (category), a very nice example of a Marshal (part make) and you found it in a trunk of a project Citroen (carmake).

Now at PreWarParts you can find this headlight under Headlights. Under Marshal. And under Citroen. Why?

  1. The buyer is looking for a Headlight but doesn't want to dig for it . So he will go straigth to 'Headlights'
  2. The other buyer is looking for a Marchal because he owns a Bugatti, an Amilcar, a Peugeot or maybe a Voisin. All these cars used the same Marchal headlights...
  3. Another buyer has a Citroen and needs all kinds of things, but is not really a targeted searcher. Still he can find the Marchal Headlight quite easily.
